New Sound System for St Vincent’s
St Vincent’s Church in Altrincham needed to upgrade their old sound system and called upon Apple Sound to design a system that was simple to operate yet highly effective.
The new system was first used on Palm Sunday to a packed church. Using the latest in digital sound processing and Bose loudspeakers, the system automatically operates the microphones leaving clergy to concentrate on the service. Microphones were fitted to the altar and glass reading desk (using a specially adapted mount), together with wireless microphones, all controlled by a central unit.
Three different types of Bose loudspeaker were used in nine positions to cover the entire church. Spare inputs were installed for additional microphones and a portable mixer is used to control sound from the music group’s instruments and vocalists. The entire system was optimised during commissioning for maximum speech intelligibility and natural sound reproduction.
