Bose Professional Systems Division has introduced the RoomMatch™ series of array module loudspeakers and PowerMatch™ PM8500 configurable professional power amplifier.  Using new Bose technologies and innovative designs, these products provide sound designers with unprecedented scalability and configurability for venues including arenas, performing arts centres, and houses of worship.  Now, concert-quality sound can be delivered more consistently and efficiently, regardless of room size, shape, or acoustic properties. 
At the global introduction in Istanbul, which was attended by consultants and the media from the UK, Europe and beyond, Akira Mochimaru, general manager, Bose Professional Systems Division, said, “Our engineers challenged conventional wisdom for both loudspeaker and amplifier design.  The result is a new approach for the industry, one that lets sound designers and integrators meet the acoustic challenges of any fixed-installation sound system with more flexibility and far less compromise to audio performance.”

All RoomMatch™ and PowerMatch™ products, and compatible versions of Modeler® and ControlSpace® Designer software, will be available from September, 2011, and will be shown publicly for the first time in the UK on the Bose stand at PLASA – Stand G32 – 11-14 September 2011.

The Little Lane Children’s Centre is a very exciting building extension to the current Warehouse Youth Centre and will brighten up the overall building and grounds. A Council spokesman said about the Centre:

“The new extension will provide some lovely, safe and child-friendly space for families with young children which includes an activity room with good storage, a training/meeting room and a safe outdoors play area. The building will also be available for use by local groups or activities supporting families with young children.”

As the central mosque in Bolton, Zakariyya Jame Masjid plays an important role in uniting and serving all Muslims in the town. In addition to having space for up to 3,000 worshippers, it acts as a meeting place for many groups, agencies and local authorities involved in various issues in the borough, and provides Islamic education for children and adults from the surrounding areas.

As speech is of pivotal importance during prayer sessions, it was recently decided to find a way of enhancing speech quality and audibility in the prayer hall. At the same time it made sense to upgrade the audio control system to provide a simplified user interface.

Bose® Pro Partner, Apple Sound, was asked to provide a demonstration of a system that could do all of the above, and they chose to showcase Bose® line array technology, combined with a Bose® ControlSpace® audio management system.

The resulting upgrade carried out by Apple Sound includes six Bose® Panaray® MA12 line array loudspeakers in two triple stacks with Bose® Panaray® MB4 bass support, and a Bose® ControlSpace® ESP-88 digital signal processor, combined with a ControlSpace® CC64 to manage the whole sound system. A single user interface allows access to presets for room combinations, effects processing, recording and interpretation settings – all of which are engineered to provide a simple and intuitive solution for all users.

The Waste Education Centre at Donarbon Waste Management Park in Waterbeach is open to anybody from the Cambridgeshire community who is interested in finding out more about what happens to their waste. Working in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council, they welcome visits from schools and colleges, special interest groups, local businesses and the general public. The centrepiece of the 400-acre park is a £41.5 million, state of the art Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant with attached education centre.

Apple Sound Ltd has supplied Donarbon Waste with a Listen Technologies Tourguide system to help with their education programme.  This enables up to 30 people on a tour to hear clearly what the tour guide has to say.  Karen Brenchley at Donarbon explained:

The Quality Badge is the first national accreditation system for venues that provide learning outside the normal classroom setting and is accredited as offering good quality teaching and learning experiences and are safe for the children. The Badge then gives the schools confidence that pupils visiting the centre will have a worthwhile educational experience within a facility which manages risk effectively.

Carden Park, one of Cheshire’s premier golf resort hotels, continues to raise the bar and lead the way in conference and banqueting facilities in the North West, following a £350,000 refurbishment.

As part of the refurbishment, the hotel brought in Bose® Pro Partner, Apple Sound, to upgrade and enhance the AV in the Carden Suite. The self contained Carden Suite, which has its own entrance and car park, can accommodate up to 400 delegates and continues to complement the existing eleven conference rooms and dedicated business centre, all supported by highly trained event and conference organisers.

In addition to nine 60” plasma screens, Apple Sound installed a state-of-the-art Bose® sound system, consisting of a Bose ControlSpace® ESP-88 audio management system, and Bose Panaray® 502As loudspeakers with bass support from Panaray® MB4s, to provide both background and foreground sound for corporate events and PA for conferences.

Apple Sound, in conjunction with POLARaudio, recently completed an audio-visual installation in the new, purpose-built council chambers at Huntingdon District Council.

Apple Sound, a provider of specialist audio, sound masking and speech privacy systems, was commissioned to install a beyerdynamic MCW-D 200 Digital Wireless Microphone System in the Huntingdon council offices after being awarded the tender and successfully undertaking the first stage of the AV installation.

Apple Sound were briefed to provide the council with a secure wireless conference microphone system that would enable full utilisation of the flexible room formats with the facility for voting and recording. It was to be be controlled and managed via MCWD Controller and Steno-S recording software and Apple had specified the beyerdynamic MCW-D 200 Digital Wireless System for the job. beyerdynamic’s MCW-D 200 system is a fully secure digital wireless conference system with integrated voting and translation capabilities, which has been developed over years of conference experience by the manufacturer. Microphone station functions include the transmission of interpreter channels, paging and voting, so the system is ideal for all types of conference. The system has been successfully implemented for many years in numerous projects around the world.

In total POLARaudio supplied Apple Sound with two MCW-D 200 control units, two MCW-D 2073 voting chairman’s units, 61 MCW-D 2071 voting delegate units, all charging cases and antenna units, Steno-S Pro recording software, Biamp Nexia DSP processing and an Australian Monitor XA-1400 power amplifier.

Other equipment installed by Apple Sound includes three Ben-Q projectors and Draper – tab tension screens, Bose MA12EX speakers, a full AMX control system and a Listen Technologies assisted listening system.

The mix of ease of use and intuitive user interfaces, combined with the excellent installation by Apple Sound, means that council staff can carry out their meetings with peace of mind.

St Peter’s Church, in Lower Heswall on the Wirral wanted to include a comprehensive sound system for their new-build St Peter’s Centre. Following the installation of the sound system at St Peter’s Church a few years previously, they approached Apple Sound again for help. The architectural design for the new hall was assessed by Apple Sound and attention was drawn to the opportunity available prior to construction to ensure appropriate acoustic performance of the space.

Using Bose® Modeler® software, Apple Sound created an acoustical model of the hall, and were able to predict the acoustic properties of the space and therefore the acoustic performance of the proposed sound system in that space. Making changes to the choice of finished surfaces in the construction ensured the finished building was acoustically fit-for-purpose. 

The system needed to provide highly intelligible speech for presentations & talks, replay full-range content from multimedia sources and also allow small bands to plug-in their mixer desk for live concerts! A Bose Panaray loudspeaker system comprising a pair of 2-metre tall MA12 line array with supporting MB4 bass module delivers sound across this wide variety of sources, from visually attractive white enclosures. Bose FreeSpace DS100SE loudspeakers extend sound to the annex with further flush-mount ceiling loudspeakers relay throughout the rest of the building.

The whole system is controlled from an equipment rack in a store room, which includes wireless microphones, DVD player, and Digital Sound Processor which stores the optimised audio settings.

Antofagasta plc, one of the largest copper mining companies, needed to improve speech privacy at their London offices and called in Apple Sound to solve the problem. The offices have a varying workflow and occupants found that overhearing nearby conversations was the main source of distraction. Sound masking was installed throughout the offices and meeting rooms. Following careful optimisation, the sound masking system has effectively reduced the cause of distractions.
